Staying and getting around
Good areas to stay
The old town. Roman Rimini: the arch, the bridge, the castle and the squares between them.
Borgo San Giuliano. A painted old fishermen's quarter across the Roman bridge, full of trattorias.
The seafront. Miles of beach clubs, hotels and nightlife; busy in summer, shut up in winter.
Flying in
Rimini Fellini (RMI): Bus to Rimini station, about 20 min, ≈ A$4. Few flights outside summer.
Bologna Marconi (BLQ): Marconi Express to Bologna Centrale, then a train to Rimini, about 1 h 40 min, ≈ A$35.
Flewaway's estimate for the usual budget way into Rimini; check times and fares before you fly.
Getting around
Mostly on foot. A single ticket is ≈ A$3. The old town is walkable and the beach is a 15-minute walk from the station. The Metromare bus runs along the seafront to Riccione (check).
Tourist tax
Rimini's tourist tax: usually about €1–2 a person a night in hostels and B&Bs, more in hotels; under-14s don't pay. Paid at check-in (check).
