What you'll see
The real David, more than five metres tall, at the end of a hall of Michelangelo's unfinished 'Prisoners' still struggling out of the marble. The rest of the gallery is small and quick.
A brief history
Michelangelo carved David between 1501 and 1504. It stood outside the Palazzo Vecchio until 1873, when it was moved here to protect it. A copy now stands in the original spot.
