Cliff-hanging villages, lemon terraces and one of Europe's great coastal hikes. Pricey to sleep in, but the views and the walking are free.

Staying and getting around
Good areas to stay
Amalfi. The coast's hub: the cathedral, the bus and ferry station, and the most rooms.
Positano. Pastel houses stacked down a cliff to the beach; beautiful and the dearest.
Agerola. A farming town up in the hills: the start of the Path of the Gods and much cheaper beds, including a hostel.
Flying in
Naples Capodichino (NAP): Bus to Salerno or Sorrento, then the coast bus (or a ferry in season), about 2 h 30 min, ≈ A$26.

Getting around
You'll need buses or trains. A single ticket is ≈ A$4. SITA buses run the coast road between Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi and Ravello and fill up in summer. Ferries (roughly April to October) are quicker, calmer and dearer (check).
Coast bus 24-hour ticket (≈ A$18, 24 hours): If you'll hop between Amalfi, Positano and Ravello in a day.
Tourist tax
Each town on the coast sets its own tax: usually about €2–3 a person a night in hostels and B&Bs, more in hotels; under-14s usually don't pay. Paid at check-in (check).
