What you'll see
A shady square of plane trees and cafés in the old Ottoman quarter, with the church of Agios Nikolaos, which has both a minaret and a bell tower.
A brief history
The square's official name, 1821 Square, remembers the uprising of that year; by tradition, the Ottomans hanged a bishop from the plane tree here in reprisal.
