What you'll see
A walk of about 2 km all the way round the old town on top of its walls, past towers and forts, looking down on terracotta roofs, gardens, church domes and straight into the sea. There's little shade.
A brief history
The walls were built and strengthened from the 1200s to the 1600s to protect the Republic of Ragusa, a small trading state that kept its independence for centuries. It's said no enemy army ever broke through them.
