What you'll see
A forest trail up a wooded hill on the western edge of town to the grassy banks of an ancient hill fort, with glimpses over the Beauly Firth and the Kessock Bridge.
A brief history
The fort's stone walls were burnt so hot that they partly melted and fused, over 2,000 years ago; it's often said to have been the stronghold of a Pictish king.
